The Hospice Team
A comprehensive hospice team supports a patient-focused approach to care:
The hospice medical director provides expertise and oversight on pain and symptom management.
Nursing staff help manage physical symptoms and provide the doctor with the important clinical information needed to oversee the patient's care.
Social workers address living space/routine issues and help families and patients understand the many emotions they are experiencing.
Physical therapists, speech therapists and other therapists are available as needed.
Volunteers give one-on-one attention to patients, helping with small tasks and sharing the valuable gift of time.
Spiritual coordinators support the patient's spiritual beliefs and assist in meeting spiritual end-of-life needs.
Bereavement staff keep in touch with families for up to 13 months to help cope with grief and loss after a loved one's death.
