NHPCA Speakers Bureau
In an effort to increase public awareness of end-of-life issues, NHPCA has a bureau of Nebraska experts available to present to civic, church and other non-professional organizations on the following topics:
Dying Well in Nebraska
- What is hospice and who is eligible?
- Hear significant results from Nebraska’s End-of-Life Survey Report, a first-in-the-nation look at a state population’s perceptions of end-of-life issues and a first-in-the-nation look at how those perceptions have changed over time.
- Advance Directives: Why is it important to put your end-of-life wishes in writing?
Power Over Pain
- The impact of pain on health and wellness
- Individual responsibilities for effective pain management
- Key ways to communicate pain
Veterans at the End of Life
- Overview of hospice
- What are the unique needs of veterans at the end of life?
The title of “expert” has come to the speakers in many ways. Some have experience as end-of-life professionals – physicians, nurses, volunteers, chaplains, social workers, attorneys, or therapists. Some speak as an advocate for end-of-life issues following the death of a loved one.
Presentations are designed for 20-minute slots but can be tailored for longer or shorter periods. Speakers are available to present in nearly every Nebraska community. We suggest but do not require a $100 honorarium to NHPCA.
