PTSD and Veterans

This presentation will describe the effects of PTSD on veterans and how the PTSD symptoms are experienced from a veteran patient perspective. Knowledge about resources available to health care providers will be shared so they may better understand and connect veterans to care.
A Veteran’s Salute
Marty Thurber, Hospice Chaplain, Tabitha; Seventh-Day Adventist Pastor; LPFD Chaplain
From a hospice chaplain who also served in the U.S. Army during the 1970s, this presentation provides us with a view of veteran’s issues surrounding grief and bereavement, as well as providing tools to help veterans come to peace with death.
Round Table/Best Practice Discussion/Annual Report
Be prepared to participate in a lively discussion about your hospice’s activities related to:
- Pinning ceremonies
- Vet-to-Vet volunteer programs
- Specific care needs of veterans you provided
- Working with Veteran Service Officer or other VA contacts
- Accessing VA benefit
- Securing medals or other acknowledgements for veterans
- Participation in We Honor Veterans program
- Other exciting news you would like to share
- Annual report

Cancellation, Refund and Substitution Policies
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. A $10 processing fee will apply to all cancellations. Substitutions are welcome; please submit your request in writing.

PRE-REGISTRATION is encouraged. Registration at the door will be accepted only if space permits.

Registration Fee
Registration fee: $20
The registration fee includes education, handout link, lunch, roundtable networking, and the annual meeting.
