CONTENT

This presentation will engage volunteer managers in discussion around the empowerment of volunteers in their hospice. We all know of the five percent requirement which mandates volunteers. Do we approach the volunteer program as a necessary evil, or as a key way to provide quality care, and elevate our mission to improve the end-of-life experience for patients and their families? We will identify the challenges, the opportunities, and the relational approach that maximizes the volunteer, the program, and the entire organization.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Understand the history behind the volunteer mandate of the hospice benefit
  2. Discuss the challenges of managing volunteers
  3. Identify the key ways volunteers add value to the organization
  4. Discuss how a relational approach that puts volunteers at the center can answer some of the challenges of both the volunteer program and the organization

AUDIENCE

This webinar is appropriate for all staff in hospice and palliative care.
